Latisse® is a prescription in-home eyelash treatment that grows eyelashes fuller, longer, and darker. Medi-Spa at Knoxville Dermatology Group does not administer Latisse®, but we can prescribe it for you and instruct you in its use. Hypotrichosis is a condition in which you have too few eyelashes. Latisse® treats this condition with a solution called bimatoprost ophthalmic.

APPLYING LATISSE

While we will give you detailed instructions at the time of your prescription, Latisse® must be applied only to the base of the upper eyelashes. When you blink, enough of the solution will make its way to your lower lashes. If you wear contact lenses, you can use Latisse, but you should remove your lenses before applying the solution and reinsert them 15 minutes after application.

LATISSE RESULTS AND RECOVERY

Latisse works gradually over a 4-month period to double the fullness of the eyelashes in many cases, while also making them darker and longer. Latisse must be continued indefinitely, or your lashes will return to their former appearance in a period of weeks.

IS LATISSE SAFE?

Latisse is safe for most people. After taking your medical history, we can advise if you are a good candidate for the treatment. If you have eye pressure problems or other eye sensitivities or allergies, you may want to consult with your optometrist before using Latisse.

Latisse can cause the brown pigment of the colored part of the eye to become slightly darker. This result does not usually reverse. In some cases, your eyelid may darken slightly, but this condition usually does reverse. About 4% of users experience mild side effects, such as itching and redness. The majority of people are very happy with the results of Latisse.

If you are not a good candidate for Latisse, you might be a candidate for eyelash tinting. While tinting will not make your eyelashes fuller or longer, it can darken them and make your eyes more prominent.
