Limelight / IPL

LimeLight Photo Facial is a laser treatment offered at MediSpa at Knoxville Dermatology Group for Skin Rejuvenation. LimeLight is an intense pulsed light (IPL) device that penetrates the surface layers of skin to target the cells that need to be treated without harming the outermost cells. It is a non-surgical and minimally invasive way to improve the appearance of your skin.

LIMELIGHT CAN IMPROVE:

  • Redness and Rosacea
  • Brown spots and photodamage
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Appearance of enlarged pores
  • Appearance of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Vessels (telangiectasia)

PREPARING FOR LIMELIGHT

The skilled providers at MediSpa at Knoxville Dermatology Group will examine your skin and determine if LimeLight will achieve your skin rejuvenation goals. You will be instructed how to care for your skin before your appointment, including what medications and skin care products to avoid.

 GETTING LIMELIGHT LASER SKIN REJUVENATION

The amount of time required for your session will depend on the number of areas to be treated. Most LimeLight treatments take 15-30 minutes, however. You will wear goggles for the procedure, and we will apply a gel to your skin before applying the laser device. You will feel a pinching or snapping sensation during the treatment, but light anesthesia is not usually required. Most people need 4-5 treatments to achieve maximum improvement.

LIMELIGHT RESULTS AND RECOVERY

The sensation after your treatment is similar to a feeling of mild sunburn. This generally resolves within hours, but may last 1-2 days. If brown spots have been treated, they may become darker before they lighten about a week later. At that time, the skin will crust slightly. You may also experience some redness and swelling for a few hours to a day or two.

Aloe Vera, hydrocortisone, and cool compresses will help to reduce swelling and redness after your treatment, and we will provide you with cleansing and after care instructions. We may also suggest skin care products to speed the healing process and ensure your comfort.

New brown spots, vessels, and redness can appear, necessitating future LimeLight treatments. Sunscreen use can help a great deal to prevent these signs of aging. Most people get touch-up LimeLight or other Laser Skin Rejuvenation treatments once or twice per year.

IS LIMELIGHT SAFE?

Light-based treatments are among the safest skin procedures because they target only those cells to be treated, while leaving the other skin tissues intact.
