CHEMICAL PEELS CAN IMPROVE:

  • Rough, dry skin
  • Acne and blemishes
  • Uneven skin tone, brown spots, and hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines
  • Small scars, including acne scars
  • Aging skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rosacea

TYPES OF CHEMICAL PEELS

A chemical peel is a chemical formula that eliminates damaged skin cells from the top layer of the skin. There are different types of chemical peels, which fall into gentle/superficial, moderate, or aggressive/deep categories.

If your skin is very sensitive or you have never had a chemical peel before, a gentle or superficial peel will probably be suggested. If you have significant hyperpigmentation or scars, a deeper peel may be the best option for maximum benefit.

You may require a regimen of a few peels over a period of 3-6 months in order to achieve the results you want.

Most chemical peels are made of one of the following chemicals:

  • Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) – gentle/superficial peels
  • Glycolic acid – moderate peels
  • Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) – moderate to deep peels
  • Phenol – deep peels

PREPARING FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL

We ask that you do not use any retinoids or aggressive skin care products for 1 week before your scheduled procedure in order to prevent any problems.

GETTING A CHEMICAL PEEL

Most of our peels require less than an hour to perform. You might feel a mild tingling during your peel.

CHEMICAL PEEL RESULTS AND RECOVERY

You can go home immediately. The downtime varies from none at all to as much as several days of peeling and flaking, but you can wear make-up during recovery.

You may also experience some redness, tenderness, inflammation, and scabbing – especially if you have had a deep peel. In some cases, the skin continues to peel for a period of two weeks after the chemical peel. This is the dead skin coming off; the skin that emerges from underneath will show the desired improvement.

Depending upon the type of peel we recommend for you, we will suggest after care products, such as a special cleanser for washing your skin. We will also ask you to wear sun screen for a period of time after each chemical peel, as your skin will be more vulnerable to the sun.

The length of time that your chemical peel results will last vary based on the type of peel, but the deeper peels tend to last longer.
