Injectables & Dermal Fillers

As you age, your skin loses its volume and resilience ― a process that causes wrinkles and folds to begin developing on your neck and face. Fortunately, the medically trained experts at Medi-Spa at Knoxville Dermatology Group can help you restore and keep your youthful appearance with facial filler injections! Because our medically trained experts have indepth understanding of internal and external facial anatomy, including the bone, tissue, and muscle structure of the face, they are adept at restoring a youthful and natural look and feel to your face. Safe and relatively painless, dermal injections are an outstanding nonsurgical way to keep your skin looking fresh and plump. In addition, facial fillers can help prevent additional signs of aging by preempting lines and wrinkles from deepening and becoming more permanent.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR FACIAL INJECTIONS?

Many people who request dermal fillers are age 35 or older. But you can have dermal injections at any age to correct pitting, scarring, and other facial depressions from injuries, acne, and other conditions.

PREPARING FOR DERMAL FILLER INJECTIONS

Before you have treatment with a facial filler, your medically trained Medi-Spa at Knoxville Dermatology Group injectables expert will ask about your goals. She also will discuss which dermal filler or combination of dermal fillers will yield the best results for you. If you are planning to have facial filler treatment, you should discontinue the use of aspirin and ibuprofen at least 10 days before your treatment to minimize bruising. To create a completely refreshed look and feel to your skin, you may combine dermal fillers with Botox® Cosmetic injections.

INJECTABLE FILLERS CAN REDUCE THE APPEARANCE OF:

  • Wrinkles
  • Folds ( smile lines and laugh lines) from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • Lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin (Marionette lines)
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Thinning lips and a receding lip border
  • Cheek and other facial depressions
  • Acne scars
  • Hollows under your eyes (or tear troughs)
  • Sagging eyebrows
  • Loose skin at the lower jawline (or jowls)
  • Drooping earlobes

THE MEDICALLY TRAINED EXPERTS AT MEDI-SPA AT KNOXVILLE DERMATOLOGY GROUP ARE ADEPT AT INJECTING THE COSMETIC FILLERS:

Safe and FDA-approved, these fillers provide beautiful, natural-looking results!

GETTING FACIAL FILLER INJECTABLES

Your dermal injections will be given with a very fine needle that causes little or no discomfort. Treatment usually only takes 15 to 30 minutes. Complications with dermal fillers are very rare.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT WITH DERMAL FILLERS

  • Juvéderm, Restylane, and Perlane, are smooth gels made from plants that are similar to a substance known as hyaluronic acid that naturally occurs in your body. Both of these outstanding fillers can immediately soften your lines and wrinkles.
  • Sculptra is a synthetic and biodegradable substance made from the acids of fruits. Sculptra is designed to promote collagen production. It gradually increases the thickness of the skin, helping fill lines and wrinkles and increase the overall volume of the face. Like Restylane and Juvederm, complications with Sculptra are rare.
  • Radiesse is a calcium-based substance that stimulates collagen production. It reduces the appearance of facial lines, folds, creases, and wrinkles. Radiesse also can be used to help shape the face. Radiesse is mostly used in the cheeks and nasolabial folds.

Depending on your goals, your medically trained Medi-Spa at Knoxville Dermatology Group injectables expert might recommend more than one type of filler to ensure you get exceptional results.

DERMAL FILLER RECOVERY AND RESULTS

Results from dermal fillers are immediate. In some cases, the results of facial fillers improve over time and with continued treatments. In most cases, the effects of dermal fillers last at least 6 months; but some patients find they need less of the fillers and that they experience longer-lasting results even after just a few treatments. Sculptra and Radiesse tend to produce longer-lasting results compared with many other dermal fillers.

Complications from dermal fillers are mild, usually last no more than 7 days, and may include:

  • Redness
  • Firmness
  • Swelling
  • Lumps and bumps
  • Itching
  • Bruising
  • Discoloration at the injection site
