Sculptra® is an anti-aging dermal filler offered at MediSpa at Knoxville Dermatology Group that replaces lost volume in the face. It is injected a bit deeper than some of the other injectable facial fillers, and like a scaffold, it helps to rebuild the structure of your face. Sculptra’s effects are gradual, and it stimulates your body’s production of collagen.
Collagen is one of the substances in the skin that keep you looking youthful. Replacing the collagen that is lost during the aging process is one of the ways to combat the signs of aging.
Sculptra® is not recommended for the lips or the eye area.
Our expert injectors will thoroughly examine your face, the condition of your skin, and the areas you wish to alter. They will discuss the best options with you, recommending the injectables that will provide you with the optimal outcome.
They may suggest more than one cosmetic filler or injectable for layering, including Botox®, Restylane®, Perlane, Juvéderm®, or Radiesse®.
While Sculptra® injections are not tremendously painful, the fine needle can include the anesthetic Lidocaine to numb the treated areas and ensure your comfort. If you choose the Lidocaine, your entire treatment will include 15-20 minutes of numbing and approximately 15 minutes of injections.
Most people require at least 3 Sculptra treatments every 4-6 weeks in order to achieve the best results. After that, Sculptra’s anti-aging effects can last up to two years.
The results of Sculptra® are not immediate. They appear gradually over the months following your injections, which allows the changes to be subtle and less noticeable.
You can expect some minor redness, bruising, swelling, itching, and tenderness, but these symptoms should subside within a week or so. You may also notice small lumps in the injection sites. These are not visible to others and will go away on their own.
We will provide you with massage instructions to continue several times a day for five days after your procedure.
We can provide make-up application before you leave our offices in order to cover any redness from your Sculptra® injections.
Made of a biocompatible synthetic substance called poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra® is well-tolerated by the body and does not require allergy testing. Sculptra® is also biodegradable, which means it is broken down safely by your body over time.
