Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid injectable dermal filler offered as an anti-aging treatment at MediSpa at Knoxville Dermatology Group. As our bodies produce less hyaluronic acid during the aging process, we lose volume in the face. Facial fillers like Juvéderm® can replace some of that volume, subtly filling in the areas where lines, wrinkles, and folds have formed.
Juvéderm® is gel that is similar to Restylane and Perlane. It uses a technology called HYLACROSS™ that makes it especially smooth and predictable in the way that it flows into the skin. Other hyaluronic acid fillers are a bit more granular in consistency, and Juvéderm is very close to the consistency of facial tissue.
These differing properties between the various fillers provide your medically trained injectors at MediSpa at Knoxville Dermatology Group with several options so that each area you want to treat can be injected with the product that will bring you the best outcome.
With our in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy and experience with several types of injectable fillers, we can determine which dermal filler(s) are optimal for you in order to create a subtle, natural-looking result. This is often achieved by layering the injectables where needed.
Juvéderm®can also be used to volumize the lips.
Our expert injectors will thoroughly examine your face and the condition of your skin. They will then discuss your options with you so that you understand fully what they recommend to achieve your desired result. They may suggest more than one cosmetic filler or injectable, including Botox®, Restylane®, Perlane, Sculptra®, or Radiesse®.
Juvéderm® injections can include Lidocaine – a mild anesthetic – if you prefer, to numb the treated areas. If you choose the Lidocaine, your entire treatment will include 15-20 minutes of numbing and 15 minutes of injections. If you are allergic to Lidocaine, Juvederm® is also available without it.
The results of one Juvéderm® treatment can last up to a full year. Your results will appear immediately, and you can return to your normal activities the same day. We will advise that you avoid strenuous exercise for a couple of days, however.
You can expect some minor redness, bruising, swelling, and tenderness, but this should last for no more than 3 days. You can prevent swelling by applying ice to the injection areas for the first few hours and elevating your head with a pillow for the first two nights.
We can provide make-up application before you leave our offices in order to cover any effects from the injections.
Juvéderm® injections are plant-based and derived from a sugar that is naturally produced in your body. For this reason, an allergy test is not necessary.

MediSpa at Knoxville Dermatology Group is proud to be the launch partner for Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine the latest advancement in the Juvéderm® range of facial fillers, developed specifically for your lips and mouth area. It is a smooth gel that is injected by your physician, using an ultra-fine needle. It has been specifically developed as a smooth gel to give a soft, natural feel. The gel fills in lip lines and wrinkles while the hyaluronic acid within attracts and retains moisture, so results can last up to a year.
Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine was developed with VYCROSS™ technology to deliver a natural look and feel, with results proven to last up to a year. Because it also includes a local anaesthetic, you should find it makes the treatment process much more comfortable.
A recent study showed that 98% of those who had lip-filler treatment with Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® reported that their lip appearance goals have been achieved! It has been specially formulated with VYCROSS™ technology to deliver a natural look and feel in the skin and help avoid your lips looking unnatural.
JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® lip injections treat lost lip volume, defines lip contours, treats the corners of the mouth that turn down and make you look like you're sad, smooth's smoker's lines and plumps up marionette lines (the lines that go from the corners of your mouth down to your chin).
Your physician will advise you on your aftercare. You may be advised to stop wearing makeup for up to 12 hours. You may also be told to avoid the sun, as well as saunas and steam rooms, for 2 weeks. Some people experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites. It is also recommended that you avoid additional treatments in the treated area for the next 7 days.
Developed using Allergan's proprietary Vycross technology, JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® with lidocaine is formulated with an innovative combination of low and high molecular weight technology, which improves the cross-linking efficiency of HA chains. This more effective cross-linking allows for a lower concentration of HA to be used, which results in less swelling. The Vycross technology delivers an ultra-smooth gel, which results in a natural look and feel, as well as improved duration. This unique technology allows the product to absorb less water, resulting in considerably reduced swelling compared to more traditional fillers. Not only is there less downtime, the treatment itself is made as pain free as possible by the built-in lidocaine anaesthetic. Results are commonly seen to last up to twelve months.
As smoker's lines are difficult to treat, especially if they have been neglected, a JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® treatment can be combined with some laser procedures that stimulate collagen and improve the final rejuvenation of the mouth area.
The smooth consistency of the products in the Juvéderm Ultra® and VYCROSS™ ranges allow your medical physician to administer them easily and smoothly. They also contain 0.3% Lidocaine to reduce injection pain for a more comfortable experience.
